No Man's Sky - Day 3

So far I have managed to discover most of the planet while collecting pieces to repair my ship. With my ship repaired and refueled I was about to leave when I discovered a long range scanner which alerted me to an intelligent life-form to its north-west. Following the signal I discovered a Vy'keen outpost at The Irvilit. A ship landed next to it when I was first approaching, by the time I got there it had taken off.
I entered the outpost and met a Vy'keen Warrior. He was a bit aggressive and we couldn't understand each other too well, but after giving him some heridium he calmed down and tried to teach me a few words.

Looking around the outpost I collected a new multi-tool with extra slots. I'm curious about the ship that landed outside, whether I can interact with it, or even steal it - although I wouldn't back myself if I had to fight for it at this stage.

While I was waiting for the ship to come back I went wandering and discovered Enyalo Desert which had a small building with a Vy'keen called Captain Nuyemoruro. Through limited communication he offered to upgrade my multi-tool but it wasn't any better than the one I just upgraded to so I declined.

Walking back to The Irvilit a different ship was landing so I went up to have a closer look. It seems each ship that lands allows you to trade or offer to buy the ship. The ships are quite nice from what I've interacted with so far (only two) one was just over 200,000 units and the other a bit over 1 million units in cost, at the moment not what I can afford. So I might spend the rest of the day mining and see what I can upgrade to.

I will be creating a page for each planet where I share a list and some images of creatures, waypoints, plants and rocks I have discovered so far.

No Man's Sky - Day 2

My starting point was Pachanuman SH980 in the Zouma system. This planet seems nice to start out on, mountains everywhere with a bit of plant life. All the fauna that I've found so far are herbivores, most of which are very timid and run away when you approach. I have been able to feed one Xuperquea Nodito which made it so happy it ran around in circles next to me for a few minutes like an overjoyed puppy.

The robot sentinels aren't too bad to deal with. I found out the hard way that they can be aggressive after mining in front of them and having three or four turn up and start attacking me. After downing two they got the better of me, so I now know to listen out for their hum as an indicator to stop mining until they fly away. They often stop to scan me but leave soon after if I don't do anything they deem aggressive. Generally caves are safe to mine in, mining in the entrances occasionally catch their attention. I don't believe they can think but if I mine a crystal they look at the ground where it was and spin around searching for it, somehow looking very confused as to how a crystal that was there could have completely disappeared.

Other than the robot sentinels and native fauna I believe there are other intelligent creatures on this planet. Ships fly past roughly every 15 minutes. There are a few groups that I can only assume circle the planet, although I don't know what they look for or where they are going. None have indicated in any way that they have noticed me or my crashed ship. I wouldn't mind finding out if they land anywhere.

We finally managed to get No Man's Sky working on my laptop after fiddling with the graphics card settings a bit. So now I'm back on that and able to take proper screenshots (and I've given Dangaz back his computer so he can play too). A lot of the screenshots will appear here, but I will be posting them all on my Instagram account too: www.instagram.com/tigratho - let me know in the comments if you're following me! :)

No Man's Sky - Day 1

No Man's Sky came out today on PC. After arguing with my computer I ended up doing a factory reset for various reasons, I found it works perfectly on Dangaz computer while I was waiting. (Sorry Dangaz, you may have lost your computer for a while.)

Back to the game - it's AWESOME.
You explore, you die, you discover and name stuff, you get to the stage where you feel totally lonely and wonder what the point is, but it looks and sounds pretty. That was my first hour of playing.

So far I have discovered 42% of the planet I started on. It's quite pretty, a pale yellow sky and mountains as far as you can see, with pockets of plant life and herbivores of various sizes. It's a nice 19° during the day, but gets down to -59° at night. I have seen some birds, but haven't been able to get close enough to scan them yet.

I will do a full upload of discoveries to my blog as I go (todays discoveries I will add tomorrow once my computer is back up and running).
